In Pictures: Britons embrace warmer weather amid sunny forecasts

Temperatures well above average for this time of year have been forecast – hotter than Madrid or Rome.

Britons are jumping at any opportunity to embrace warm weather after what has felt like a long, cold and wet winter.

Snow has been falling as late as the end of March this year so forecasts of UK temperatures expected to top those in Rome, Venice and Madrid this week are being greeted with excitement.

Here we take a look at Britons making the most of a little bit of spring sunshine. Will there be more to come?
