Motorist charged over death of 15-year-old cyclist
David Harwood was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and two offences of driving a motor vehicle dangerously.
A man has been charged with the causing the death of a 15-year-old cyclist by dangerous driving.
Dylan Crossey suffered serious head injuries in a collision with a car in Whitestake, near Preston, Lancashire, on October 7 last year.
The teenager was taken from the scene in Chain House Lane to Royal Preston Hospital where he later died.
In a statement, Lancashire Police said: “David Harwood, 42, of The Close, New Longton, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving and two offences of driving a motor vehicle dangerously yesterday (Monday).
“He has been bailed to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court on August 24.”
Following his death, Dylan’s family said he was “a much-loved son and brother who loved nothing more than living life to its fullest” and added he was “growing into a fine young man”.
The keen Preston North End fan was also described as a talented footballer who represented his local team, Penwortham St Teresa’s FC, almost 100 times.
