Chloe Davies, 24, and Sam Diggory, 30, from Shrewsbury welcomed Hunter Troy Diggory at 2.49am yesterday.

New mum Chloe said although she didn’t want a Christmas Day baby, he is the best present she could have asked for.

By 2pm yesterday, there was four new arrivals at Princess Royal Hospital in Telford, with more expected, but baby Hunter was by far the biggest.

Chloe said: “He’s 9lb 12oz – he’s huge. They did say when they last measured him that he was big but I didn’t expect him to be this big.

“He’s the best present ever and I can’t wait to get him home now.”

Jayne Pickering and Neil Smallman, from Newport, were also celebrating the big day at the Telford hospital.

The 32-year-old delivered Lucas Oliver Smallman, weighing 8lb 4oz, at 3.30am.

She said: “He arrived a couple of days early. He was actually due on December 29 but I actually think this is the most relaxed Christmas I’ve ever had. I’m so, so, happy. The staff here have been absolutely amazing. I’ve been in bed all day and had a Christmas dinner but we’ll be celebrating with all the family tomorrow. They can’t wait to meet him.”

Mina Alom also welcomed a little girl, who has yet to be named, with husband Jubar.

The Shawbridge couple, who already have a son, didn’t expect to be spending their Christmas Day with a new arrival as she was actually due on January 9. Mina said: “I had a feeling she was going to come on Christmas Day for some reason. On Christmas Eve we were celebrating a birthday opening presents and eating lots of food, and I said to my sister-in-law I had a feeling she was going to come.”

“I went to bed that night and I started getting fairly strong contractions and then I felt a pop and knew she was coming.”

The tiniest of the festive babies so far, she weighed 5lb 10oz and arrived at 2.08am.
