Passengers using the busy line yesterday were transported on buses between the stations on the line, which include Gobowen, Chirk, Ruabon and Chester.

National Rail said: "A fault with the signalling system near Gobowen means trains between Shrewsbury and Wrexham General may be delayed by up to 45 minutes, cancelled or revised.

"We anticipate disruption will continue until 13:00."

It said road transport was in operation between Shrewsbury and Chester calling at all stations in both directions.

Now there will be disruptions until 2.30pm.
