A woman was taken to hospital after a car overturned in a crash around a mile from the scene of a fatal collision two weeks ago.

The A454, the main route between Bridgnorth and Wolverhampton, was closed throughout rush hour this morning as a result of the three-vehicle crash.

The woman, a passenger in the overturned car, had to be cut free by firefighters before she was taken to New Cross Hospital with chest pain, neck pain and cuts to her hand. Two other men were discharged at the scene.

Two cars and a van were involved in the collision, which happened in Hilton, near Bridgnorth, at around 8am.

West Midlands Ambulance spokesman Jamie Arrowsmith said: "Three ambulances attended along with a paramedic officer and a crew in a rapid response vehicle.

"Two men in their 20s and a man in his 60s were discharged at the scene with minor injuries.

"A woman in her 40s, a passenger in a car which overturned, was taken to New Cross Hospital. Fire crews cut the roof off to help get her out.
