Delays and closures on A41 after lorry overturns near Newport

By Jordan Reynolds | Newport | Transport | Published:

A lorry which rolled over has caused delays and road closures on the A41 near Newport today.

The crash happened at 3.20am this morning and later caused delays, and even a road closure on both sides of the A41 between Chester Road and the A518.

Ambulance crews were sent to the scene as the driver had suffered a shoulder injury, but did not require hospital treatment.

Laura Maltby, spokeswoman for West Mercia Police, said: "Police were called to the A41 at around 3.20am this morning following a report a lorry had left the carriageway and was in a ditch.

"It involved a blue Scania heavy goods lorry.

"Ambulance also attended and the driver is reported to have suffered a shoulder injury but did not require hospital treatment."

There were diversions in place well into the evening and a two hour road closure at 7pm.
