A stretch of the A53 near Market Drayton is set to close for a month for roadworks.

The A53 will be closed on several days from June 20 to July 22 at Tern Hill for resurfacing.

Work will take place between Tern Hill Island and Espley Island at Hodnet.

The road will be closed on the following dates and times:

  • June 20: 9pm-4am
  • June 22-24: 9.30am-4pm
  • July 2: 9pm-4am

At other times traffic lights and traffic control measures will be in operation.

A diversion will be in place during the periods of closure.

It is the latest in a number of road closures to affect major roads in the county.

The A5 is currently closed overnight between Oswestry and Shrewsbury, while the A483 will be closed between Oswestry and Llanymynech overnight shortly.
