Parts of Lawley were affected by the cut, which occurred shortly after 2pm.

It is understood the addresses left without power included those at Bryce Way, Proctor Avenue, Walkiss Crescent and Machin Place.

A spokesman for GTC said: "We’re very sorry for any inconvenience caused during the electricity outage in Telford, which has been caused by one of our cables being accidentally damaged by a third party.

"This initially affected 166 customers, although 105 are now back on supply with the remainder expected by approximately 6pm when the damage has been repaired."

Some properties had their power back by about 3.30pm.
