The reserved matters application seeks final permission for the housing to be built in the seventh phase of the Lawley Village development in Telford.

Almost 2,000 homes have already been built and the latest phase includes 266 Taylor Wimpey, Barratt and Persimmon Homes.

It covers the area between Lawley Drive and the new Lawley Primary Academy, opposite the Morrisons supermarket. The plans were given outline permission in 2011 and this new application will deal with the finer details.

Of the the 266 homes, 31 will be affordable homes and there will be a total of 61 two-bed homes, 141 three-bed, 62 four-bed and two five-bed.

The design and access statement for the plans says: "The expansion of Lawley will meet the increasing demand for new housing by creating a sustainable community with a clear character and sense of place.

"It will continue the establishment of a safe, healthy and inclusive environment that meets the needs of existing and future generations."

The total Lawley Village site covers a 330-acre area of land, complete with 3,500 homes, representing a huge investment in the area. Plans were first approved in 2005.

Work started on phase one of Lawley Village in February 2007. Phase two saw the development of Lawley Square, with phase four now finished. Phase three was completed in March 2016 and phase six is still under way.

Phase eight, which included 561 two, three and four-bedroom homes built by Taylor Wimpey, Persimmon Homes and David Wilson on 37 acres was approved last summer and equates to 70 two-bedroom homes, 285 three-bedroom homes and 206 four-bedroom homes. Work on that section of the development is still under way.

Altogether the development of the entire 3,500-home Lawley Village project, which also includes a new primary school, is being completed in 11 phases and it is anticipated that the entire project will take until 2028 to complete.

Graydon Worthing, spokesman for Lawley Village Developer Group, said: "We are looking forward to starting building work on phase seven.

"It is a much-anticipated part of Lawley Village, as it is located next to a well-established area of this thriving community.

"We aim to build around 3,500 homes and so far we have completed five phases. Homes are currently for sale in phase six, which has proved very popular, and work is well under way on phase eight."
