Here's what they have to say.

Philip Dunne

Philip Dunne - Conservative

This is a crucial election, requiring a positive vision for Britain and strong and stable leadership for Brexit. So I am backing Theresa May’s ambitious plan to ensure our economy remains strong; deliver Brexit and emerge a strong and united nation; give everyone the opportunity to realise their potential, to make Britain the world’s greatest meritocracy; restore the social contract between generations, providing security to the old while being fair to the young; and seize the opportunities of changing technology in our lives.

I hope voters in South Shropshire will back me to deliver our manifesto commitments, including an additional £8bn NHS spending, an additional £4bn for schools, tax cuts for individuals and businesses, and a universal service obligation for broadband.

Julia Buckley

Julia Buckley - Labour

I decided to stand for election because of my deep concern about the impact of Tory cuts and mismanagement on local communities. I’m also campaigning hard to keep the local maternity unit open, and to ensure the nearest A&E at Telford is not downgraded. Like most people I think I had become detached from all the dramatic political decisions we watch passively on the TV. But last year, I saw my friend Jo Cox killed because she stood up for what she felt was important – if unfashionable – because she was determined to make a difference.

That devastating day mobilised me into action. Now I am determined to stand up and protect ordinary people from the brutal cuts proposed under the Conservative’s austerity plans.

Heather Kidd

Heather Kidd - Liberal Democrats

I will fight the cuts to our school budgets which are putting education standards at risk. I will fight to achieve an accountable health service, fight for the community hospitals, maternity services, GP practices and improved mental health services for young and old alike. I support 1p in the pound tax to help pay for health and adult social care.

I will robustly scrutinise any Brexit deal so that it safeguards staffing for our NHS and local businesses, safeguards the future of our farms and the future our children and grandchildren. I will fight for the electorate to decide whether the deal delivers for them. I will be a campaigning MP who stands up for our residents and makes our voice heard across both the county and the country; an MP who is able to fight alongside constituents to deliver our fair share.

Hilary Wendt

Hilary Wendt - Green Party

The Green Party works hard for a fairer society and a meaningful democracy. The Green Party wants to see our NHS, our schools, our railways, buses and other public services fully funded and in public hands. We want a fair and resilient local economy that recognises the value of our small, independent businesses and the importance of jobs that people can build a life around. We need high quality, affordable, secure housing that meets local demand.

Our economic system and our politics is based all too often on ignoring the ‘true cost’ of what we do. Taking action to move us to a low-carbon, sustainable world is not an optional add-on. It has to become the way things are done. Improved well-being for all, not extra profits for a few, has to become how we measure success.
