New council chairman elected

A council has elected its new chairman.

Councillor John Yorke elected chairman of Lawley and Overdale Parish Council.

At the annual meeting of Lawley and Overdale Parish Council Councillor John Yorke was elected as chairman.

He will be supported by Councillor Lee Vidor as vice chairman.

In a statement the council said: "Councillor Yorke and Councillor Vidor, along with the staff and members of the council, look forward to working with all residents across our parish and community, and will in the near future be developing further ways to ensure we continue to work with one another.

"On behalf of the community and Lawley and Overdale Parish Council, the chairman and his councillors would like to thank Councillor Raj Mehta for his dedication and commitment as chairman for the last year.

"The chairman and his parish councillors welcome any communication and feedback regarding concerns in the parish, particularly during the unprecedented situation created by Covid-19. The importance of community and support has never been more evident."
