After passing its budget and council tax increase at its meeting on Monday, Oswestry Town Council agreed on its fees and charges for the coming years.

Car parking charges in the council-run car parks, which include the central car park, Horsemarket and Smithfield car parks will remain the same as the current charges.

Back in December the council had agreed to remove car parking charges overnight between 6pm and 8am, despite previously raising £11,000.

In other areas, charges for the market stalls are due to largely remain the same.

Allotments and hanging baskets have risen in price by three per cent, along with fees to use the sports facilities in the town's Cae Glas park.

Charges to rent rooms in the town's guildhall are also rising by three per cent, as will fees at the town's cemetery.

Town clerk David Preston told councillors that the three per cent rise on many of the fees and charges was due to inflation.

Councillors were in all in favour of the rise in fees, and they were voted through by the finance and purposes committee.
