A planned visit by Labour Peer Lord Adonis to Shrewsbury today will not be taking place.

Lord Adonis

The Remain supporter was due to appear at University Centre Shrewsbury this afternoon as a guest of Open Britain Shrewsbury to address the topic of Brexit.

Andrew Bannerman, Open Britain Shrewsbury chairman, said: "We are very disappointed but Lord Adonis was offered the chance of nationwide televisual work and he felt that he could not refuse.

"He has said that he will come to Shrewsbury and we will sort out an alternative date."

The event had been a complete ‘sell out’, with over 200 Shropshire residents due to hear from the pro-European Peer why the country needs a People’s Vote ahead of the final Brexit negotiations.
