Council leader Shaun Davies proposed a notice of motion saying that the authority will not support the selection of Shrewsbury’s hospital as the main base for the county’s emergency care.

As part of the Future Fit process to reorganise Shropshire’s major hospital services a joint committee has recommended plans to downgrade A&E services at Telford’s Princess Royal Hospital in favour of one emergency and trauma department based in Shrewsbury.

Another notice of motion put forward by opposition councillors callled for Telford & Wrekin Council to give an "urgent and detailed report as to how new secondary school provision will now be funded" following the closure of the council's Building Schools for the Future programme.
