In this picture taken from 6,000ft in 1952 you can make out the club's hilltop site lower left. In the right conditions, the site benefits from three kinds of lift to keep gliders aloft - ridge lift, thermals, and lastly wave, which can sometimes take gliders to over 20,000ft.
