Jamie Oliver gets a flavour of the new Range Rover Evoque

Celebrity chef goes ingredient shopping in London in Land Rover’s new SUV

Jamie Oliver has become one of the first people to drive the new Range Rover Evoque – taking the compact SUV on a hunt for ingredients.

The celebrity chef took to the streets of London in the second-generation Evoque to gather everything to make an Indian-inspired bhaji burger, which was served up to guests of Land Rover’s Evoque Experience in Shoreditch.

He also got the opportunity to test the Evoque’s go-anywhere capabilities by taking on an obstacle course set up at Bishopsgate Goods Yard, including a water trough, ramps, train tracks and even a swimming pool.

It’s not the first time Oliver and Land Rover have teamed up. In 2017, the two combined to create what was labelled the ultimate kitchen on four wheels. Using a Discovery as the base, Land Rover Special Operations fitted a slow cooker under the bonnet and a toaster in the front armrest, along with a sliding worktop at the back of the car, while the wheels were used to churn butter.

He said of the Evoque: “I absolutely love this car. It was so much fun to drive on the busy streets of London and through the water trough in the Bishopsgate tunnels. I’ve always loved Land Rover and I had a brilliant time designing my cooking car last year, so when I was asked to come and test out the new Evoque, I jumped at the chance.”

The second-generation Range Rover Evoque is set to hit dealerships early next year, with order books now open. Pricing for the SUV starts at £31,600, with range-topping models available from £50,400.
