McLaren introduces Track Pack for 720S

British-built supercar gets track-focused package that reduces weight, adds telemetry monitoring tech and carbon-fibre visual upgrades

Buyers of a McLaren 720S now have the choice of a new option pack to ready the supercar for the track.

Dubbed Track Pack, it reduces the weight of the British-built machine, while also adding visuals enhancements and accessible telemetry.

Thanks to the addition of carbon-fibre components — mainly the rear wing and bucket seats — along with new MSO alloy wheels, the Track Pack knocks 23kg off the regular 720S’ 1,283kg weight.

The Track Pack builds on the 720S Performance specification, meaning it also comes with exposed carbon fibre air intakes and door mirror casings for an even racier look.

Along with the aforementioned lightweight seats, the 720S’ cabin is also enhanced by an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel, and MSO extended gear shift paddles.

Drivers will also be able to monitor their on-track shenanigans with McLaren Track Telemetry, which adds three video cameras and data logging software. The system can display the footage recorded by the cameras, allowing users to see where improvements can be made on track.

Performance of the car remains untouched, meaning the 720S still covers the 0-60mph sprint in 2.8 seconds before reaching a 212mph top speed thanks to 710bhp from its twin-turbocharged, 4.0-litre V8 engine.

The McLaren 720S Performance with Track Pack is now available to order, with deliveries expected to begin early next year.
