Seat has added a third and final SUV to its range with the flagship Tarraco.

Sitting above the Arona and Ateca in the Spanish firm’s line-up, the Tarraco is the largest SUV offered by the firm and showcases the brand’s design direction for the coming years.

Available in both five- and seven-seater configurations, the Tarraco has been designed to complement all manner of customer lifestyles and requirements.

President of Seat, Luca de Meo, said: “Seat is experiencing its biggest product offensive in recent times. The introduction of the Seat Tarraco, our very first large SUV, forms part of our €3.3 billion (circa £2.9 billion) investment between 2015 and 2019 in the company’s future and the range of vehicles we offer.

“It completes our family of SUVs, to suit every customer’s need.”

Another car to be underpinned by Volkswagen Group’s MQB A platform, the Tarraco will be available with two petrol and two diesel engine options from launch, ranging from a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol up to a 2.0-litre diesel in one of two outputs.

Higher-output engines will drive all four wheels through a seven-speed DSG gearbox, with lower-powered cars utilising a six-speed manual ‘box sending power to the front wheels alone.

Thanks to an exterior length of 4,735mm and a height of 1,658mm, the Tarraco is able to offer excellent interior space and legroom. A wealth of safety assistance systems are fitted as standard too, including lane assist, front assist with pedestrian and bicycle detection, along with traffic sign recognition and blind spot detection.

Pre-sales of the Tarraco are set to commence in December, and all cars will receive a strong amount of standard equipment. Cars will benefit from a 10.25-inch digital cockpit infotainment system, while high-spec Tarracos will feature gesture control functions – a first for a Seat vehicle.
