Rugged new Nissan Navara N-Guard adds plush interior and equipment

Pick-up’s mean-looking N-Guard trim boasts black detailing and generous standard equipment

Nissan has launched a new special edition of its Navara pick-up with unique design tweaks and luxurious touches.

The Navara N-Guard comes exclusively as a double-cab pick-up powered by a 2.3-litre dCi diesel engine. It’s mated as standard to a manual gearbox, although an automatic option is also available.

N-Guard is based on the range-topping Tekna trim level but stands out thanks to moody black detailing. The front grille, fog lamps, mirror covers, door handles and rear bumper are all finished in black, while matching black side steps, roof rails and 18-inch alloy wheels are standard equipment.

Continuing the exterior makeover are darkened headlamp lenses and a tinted glass sunroof.

The N-Guard can be had in any exterior colour so long as it’s black… or grey, or white. The monochromatic makeover also brings unique decals that extend from the front doors to the load bed.

Inside, the dark theme continues, with luxurious part-leather seats in dark grey with yellow stitching. The equipment’s been given a boost, too – all N-Guard models get hill-descent control, autonomous emergency braking and a 360-degree camera system on top of the Tekna’s existing heated seats, touchscreen infotainment system, LED headlights and climate control air conditioning.

A five-year/100,000-mile warranty is also included, and those wishing for even more off-road ability can opt for a locking rear differential. Manual models are priced from £28,075 (excluding VAT, as this is a commercial vehicle), rising to £29,525 if you want the automatic gearbox.

The Nissan Navara N-Guard will make its public debut at the Hannover motor show in September, before going on sale in the UK.
