New Land Rover Discovery Sport Landmark edition celebrates firm’s fastest-selling vehicle

High-spec special edition also introduces particulate filters to clean up petrol engine emissions

Land Rover is celebrating the Discovery Sport’s position as the fastest-selling model it has ever produced with a new special edition – the Landmark.

Continuing the Landmark badge, which has appeared on both the Discovery and the Evoque before, the high-spec trim is priced from £40,400 and comes generously equipped. The compact SUV is celebrating a bumper sales year – the Discovery Sport sold 126,078 examples in 2017, making it the best single-model annual sales in Land Rover’s history.

The Discovery Sport Landmark edition is powered exclusively by the 177bhp 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox. Customers can show a bit more of their own character on the exterior, however, with three (admittedly monochromatic) colours on offer – Narvik Black, Corris Grey and Yulong White. All are matched to a Carpathian Grey contrast roof.

The car rides on 19-inch ‘Style’ alloy wheels in gloss grey, and exterior accents are finished in graphite. Inside, you’ll find choice extras such as a heated steering wheel, panoramic glass roof and Meridian sound system. It’s all wrapped in dark Ebony leather and Ebony headliner.

“The Discovery Sport is loved by customers because it demonstrates the breadth of Land Rover’s ability,” said Finbar McFall, marketing director at Land Rover. “We have sold more than 350,000 Discovery Sports globally since its introduction in 2014, with 126,078 models sold in 2017 – the best single-model annual sales in Land Rover’s 70-year history.”

The filters trap soot from the engines and oxidise it into carbon dioxide, limiting particulate emissions and reducing air pollution.
