Aston Martin reveals stunning Zagato Shooting Brake

Aston Martin has revealed the Zagato Shooting Brake, the final model in the limited-run line-up of cars in its collaboration with the Italian design house.

The Shooting Brake joins the coupe, convertible and Speedster variants in the Zagato family. A total of 325 Zagatos will be built, made up of 28 Speedsters and 99 examples of each of the rest – all have already been sold.

All four models are based on the Aston Martin Vanquish S but have undergone exterior modifications to make them unique. The Shooting Brake has a streamlined estate-like shape with just two seats inside.

Under the bonnet sits the 592bhp naturally aspirated V12 engine from the standard car, with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Aston Martin hasn’t revealed performance figures, but expect the extra weight of the Shooting Brake body to slow the standard Vanquish S’s 3.2-second 0-60mph by a fraction.

The Shooting Brake features Zagato’s signature ‘double bubble’ roof design, while glass inlays give the cockpit more light. Owners also get a tailored luggage set that fits neatly into the boot, while the interior is upholstered in aniline leather.

Aston Martin revealed that the Shooting Brake would join the Zagato family in August. At the time, Marek Reichmann, Aston Martin chief creative officer, said: “Why create a family of Zagatos? Well, many of our customers want different things. Some prefer the purity of a coupe, but others love the idea of something more extreme, like the Speedster.

“And yes, some of them have ordered one example of each.”

Aston Martin hasn’t revealed the price of its Zagato models, with long-serving customers of the brand given the chance to buy them before they were revealed to the public.
