Maserati’s Levante SUV is now available with a Ferrari-derived, petrol V6 engine.

The Levante S, which is on sale in the UK with a price tag of £70,755, is available alongside the regular diesel Levante.

The new 3.0-litre V6, which is manufactured by Ferrari exclusively for Maserati, produces 421bhp and will take the SUV from 0-60mph in five seconds flat. Top speed sits at 164mph.

Drivers can switch between four different driving modes – Normal, ICE, Sport and Off-road – which alter the engine transmission, suspension and electronic settings.

Maserati has improved the Levante’s safety offering, with an enhanced ADAS package now available as an optional extra. This includes features such as highway assist, lane keep assist, active blind spot assist and traffic sign recognition.

Customers will be able to choose from GranLusso and GranSport trim levels.

In GranLusso guise, the Levante S features metallic-finish front skid plates, GranLusso badging on the front wings, black brake callipers and 19-inch alloy wheels.

The cabin features Ermenegildo Zegna silk or leather upholstery, with wood trim and a leather steering wheel.

GranSport models, on the other hand, benefit from sportier features such as red brake callipers, 20-inch alloys and a black front grille, skid plates and roof rails. The interior gains leather-upholstered sports seats with 12-way power adjustability and stainless steel sport pedals.

The Maserati Levante S is on sale at UK dealers now, with prices starting at £70,755.
