Porsche has revealed a new special edition of its most famous sports car — the 911 Carrera 4 GTS British Legends Edition.

The special edition, which will only be available to buy in the UK, celebrates victories by British drivers in Porsches at the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race — with three versions available.

Each one has a unique livery, designed to match the race cars each driver took victory in.

The first features a red finish with white striping, in honour of 1970 Le Mans winner Richard Attwood and his Porsche 917 race car.

Next is a metallic blue car with white stripes, reflecting the Porsche 956 driven to victory by Derek Bell at the 1982 running of the famous endurance race.

Finally, in celebration of Nick Tandy’s win in 2015, a white 911 with grey striping mimicking the livery of Tandy’s Porsche 919 Hybrid racer completes the trio.

Along with special-edition liveries, the British Legends Edition Carrera 4 GTS adds a host of standard equipment, including rear-axle steering, dynamic chassis control, LED headlights and a Union Jack motif on the B-pillar — complete with a signature from the driver the car commemorates.

The special versions retain the 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine from the base Carrera 4 GTS, developing 444bhp and 550Nm of torque — taking the car from 0-60mph in 3.4 seconds and up to a top speed of 194mph.

The Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS British Legends Edition is now available to order, with prices starting at £122,376.
