Aston Martin tops Brits’ dream car brand list

British luxury manufacturer beats Ferrari and Lamborghini to top of list

The most desired car brand in Britain is Aston Martin, a new survey has found.

When questioned by finance company Close Brothers Motor Finance, one in 10 drivers out of 2000 said the brand they most wanted to own a car from was Aston Martin. Audi followed second in the list, with Jaguar in third.

Italian manufacturers Ferrari and Lamborghini came in seventh and eighth, with Bentley rounding out the pack in tenth.

The most popular choice by men was Aston Martin, whilst Audi came top of the tree for women.

Whilst many drivers desire a high-end car, the list of cars financed in 2016 looks very different.

Ford took the top spot, with Vauxhall and BMW coming in second and third respectively. It’s a similar result from 2011, when Vauxhall came on top with Ford following and BMW again in third.

James Broadhead, chief executive of Close Brothers Motor Finance said: “As British motorists reveal their dream car brands, it’s interesting that the top 10 does not only consist of elite sports cars. There are more affordable options there, and it is notable that both BMW and Audi are popular in reality, as well as in dreams. Financing options, including PCP, are bringing these higher price cars within reach of real people, so that less compromises need to be made.
