The new Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer is now on sale.

The latest estate version of the Luton-based manufacturer’s Insignia model sits on a completely new vehicle architecture and is more spacious than before.

Impressively, rear boot space is up 135 litres with the rear seats down – at 1,665 litres it’s very competitive for its segment. The boot is also 97mm longer, which should make loading odd-shaped items easier, while the rear seats can be folded 40/20/40 for added practicality.

Inside there’s a suite of technology, such as LED lighting, lane keeping assistance and a head-up display. Vauxhall is particularly proud of its premium seats, which are an optional extra.

The new Insignia also comes with OnStar, which allows for smartphone connection, tracking in the event of a theft, automatic crash response and many other useful features.

Thanks to an extended wheelbase, there’s more cabin space than before, which benefits rear passengers most of all. They get extra space all around, making longer journeys all the more bearable in the back.

Rory Harvey, Vauxhall’s chairman and managing director, said: “Vauxhall’s best-ever product portfolio is further enhanced with the launch of the new Insignia Sports Tourer.

“It has all of the elegance of its Insignia Grand Sport sibling but with even more practicality, including a boot that is more spacious than its predecessor’s.”

The new Vauxhall Insignia Sports Tourer is available now from £18,685.
