Telford's Citroen car dealership is to close at the end of the month with most of the staff and operations transferring to the company's site in Shrewsbury.

Michael Allman, joint managing director of Churchbridge Motor Garage, confirmed the Telford dealership in Holyhead Road, Ketley, would be closing on September 30.

He said all business activities would transfer to the company's dealership in Battlefield Road.

In a statement released today, Mr Allman said: "Three staff will not be moving from the Telford operation to Shrewsbury, but the remainder of the Telford staff will relocate to Shrewsbury.

"The Telford site has been sold, but due to business confidentiality, the directors of Churchbridge Motor Garage cannot disclose the purchaser or the future use of the site.

"It is, however, understood that there may be an increase in employment on the site."

The Churchbridge group was founded in 1921 in Cannock and has been operating in Shropshire for nine years.
