An application has been submitted for the homes on the site of the former Blessed Robert Johnson Catholic College, off St Pauls Drive, Dothill, Telford.

Lovell Partnerships Ltd has been instructed by Nuplace Ltd, working in association with Telford & Wrekin Council, to submit the application for a residential development.

The development proposes one, two, three and four bedroom residential development.

The plans state: "The diverse housing mix caters for a range of users and mainly for families and couples.

"The proposal includes 54 private rental residential dwellings and affordable housing types including 19 specialist units.

"The site will provide quality, modern new build homes available for market rent.

"The principle aim for the development aesthetic is to deliver a scheme that has distinctive character with its own identity, influenced by 1930s architecture whilst being sensitive to its context with respect to scale and material choices."

The proposed site access has been arranged from the north of the application site as a continuation of the existing road, St Paul’s Drive.

The application adds: "A public consultation was held on the evening of June 19.

"The event was well attended and most local residents were in favour of providing housing on the site but disagreed strongly with the proposed access for the site.

"Consultation with the local highway authority over the proposed road layout has confirmed the site entrance is located in a safe and easily accessible place for both vehicles and pedestrians."

A decision will be made on the plans in the coming months.
