All together now for community history day

Wrekin Local Studies Forum is hosting a Community History Day at Wellington Library on March 3 in which groups and organisations are setting up their displays covering local, community and family history in East Shropshire.

The free event runs from 10.30am to 2.30pm and will give visitors a chance to chat to experts who can guide them in their interests and research.

The Community History Day is organised by the forum, in association with Telford &Wrekin Library Service and Wellington History Group. The event is part of the Wellington Chartership celebrations which will be taking place in the Square on the same day.

Organisations taking part include Shropshire Family History Society, Shifnal Local History Group, Lawley and Overdale Local History Group, Britannia and Aqueduct Historical Society, Shropshire Archives, Madeley Local History Group, Telford & Wrekin Library Service, St Georges Community Group, Friends of Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, Arleston Memories and History Group, Ketley History Group, Wellington History Group, Wellington Historical Group, Wellington Remembers, Newport History Society, Albrighton and District Historical Society, The Community Writing Group, and Oakengates History Group.

Wrekin Local Studies Forum, formed in 1998, brings together organisations and individuals interested in community history in and around Telford & Wrekin. It aims to promote discovery, research and enjoyment of community history.
