The burst was discovered this afternoon and is causing water supplies to be off or at low pressure for some residents.

Severn Trent has apologised for the problems and said contractors were due to work on the problem.

A spokesman said: "This afternoon we have discovered a burst water pipe which may be causing water supplies to be off or at low pressure for some of our customers.

"Our teams are out on their way to site now and will work tirelessly to get this pipe fixed and everything back to normal as quickly as possible.

"We know how difficult it is to have no water, especially in this weather, and we’re sorry for the inconvenience this may be causing.

"We’d like to reassure our customers that we’re doing everything we can to get the water supplies back on as soon as we can.

"We’re hoping that most customers will have their supply back on later this evening.

"Again we’d like to apologise for any disruption this may cause. We'll also be tweeting updates from our twitter account: @stwater."
