Woman raped at Telford railway station

A woman has been raped at Oakengates Railway Station in Telford in an early hours attack.

Police are appealing for information after the woman was attacked early on Saturday.

DI Granville Sellers, who is investigating the case, said officers were providing support to the victim.

He said: "We are investigating an incident in the early hours of Saturday morning at Oakengates Station, in which a woman has reported a rape taking place within the grounds of the station.

“She is being fully supported by our officers and we are doing everything to establish what has happened and trace those involved.

“Anyone who was in the station in the early hours of Saturday and who thinks they may have information which could help the investigation, is asked to call us immediately.

"Thankfully reports of this nature occurring at railway stations or on trains in the Telford area are extremely rare – and if anyone has any concerns, please don’t hesitate to speak to an officer or contact us.”
