Tonight, Oakengates, I'm going to be Marc Bolan - and one or two others besides.

Marc - in the form of Stars In Their Eyes winner Rob Cairns - is coming to the town on March 2 in a 1970s tribute show organised by The Gower Heritage & Enterprise Foundation, a charity involved with the regeneration of The Gower in St Georges.

Stephen Handley of the group said: "It is wonderful that we have been lucky to be able to book Rob Cairns who starred in the TV programme Stars In Their Eyes as Marc Bolan, with 96,000 telephone votes. It will be a fantastic evening for all to enjoy.

"The event will be on Friday, March 2, starting at 8.30pm at The Maddocks Club at Oakengates.

"Robert Cairns, mentioned by The Sun as one of the best one-man shows ever seen, will be playing tracks from great stars from the 70s, such as Sweet, Roxy Music, Cockney Rebel, T-Rex, Slade, Mud, Status Quo, David Essex, Rod Stewart, Elton John, and so on."

Tickets are available at £5 each from The Maddocks Club, Christine's Florist, Oakengates, and Goodfillas Cafe, St Georges.
