The collision happened at Woodcote, just before 4pm on Wednesday.

Emergency services, including Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service, attended.

The fire service said initial reports suggested a lorry and bus were involved but when firefighters arrived they found two cars.

A spokesperson for the fire service said one casualty was being cared for by the ambulance service.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We were called at 3.50pm yesterday to reports of a two car RTC in Woodcote, Newport. Two ambulances and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

"The driver of each vehicle, one man and one woman, managed to self extricate from their vehicles.

"Ambulance staff assessed both patients and provided treatment on scene before they were conveyed to hospital for further treatment."
