Burton Borough pupil Josh Bradley had his curly hair cut off at The Kings Head in Newport on Saturday in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

The 15-year-old, of Church Aston, was also joined by the pub's landlord Mick Collins, who got his back waxed for the cause.

Between them the pair have raised about £300 and were supported by dozens of people at the pub.

Josh said: "We have all had family and friends that have been affected by the vile disease.

"I want to do my bit, to raise as much as possible and make a difference.

"In the lead up to the event it was a bit nerve-racking but I had a lot of support.

"I'm quite proud of myself. My target was £200 and we're already at about £300 now."

Speaking about his head shave, he added: "It feels quite cold and a bit weird. I'm glad I did it though."

His mother Marie, 48, said: "I'm so proud of him. His nan and granddad have also been here and are chuffed to bits. "We've lost family members to cancer. He did this all off his own back.

"Normally he doesn't even like having his hair cut."
