Telford & Wrekin Council will be refurbishing the fitness suite and studio at Abraham Darby Sports and Leisure Centre, in Madeley, between December 11 and 20.

There will be new cardiovascular equipment inside the gym, including Cybex treadmills, Arc trainers, a Sparc trainer and Life Fitness power climber.

The centre will be enhancing its fitness class offer with the installation of Les Mills virtual RPM and new audio systems for the cycling and fitness classes.

The modified fitness suite and studio will also be redecorated.

The swimming pool and other facilities at the centre will remain open during the refurbishment.

However, the fitness suite will be closed throughout the works and the fitness class studio will be unavailable between December 13 and 20.

Abraham Darby Sports and Leisure Centre will reopen on December 21.

As part of the Aspirations health and fitness offering, members are able to access all six leisure sites across Telford and Wrekin.

Telford & Wrekin Council’s leisure chief, Councillor John Minor, said: “The Aspirations membership package is constantly improving across all sites within Telford and Wrekin.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused during the refurbishment period and would like to thank all members for their patience; ensuring an enhanced health and fitness offering at Abraham Darby Sports and Leisure Centre upon reopening on December 21.

“Other Aspirations facilities at alternative centres will remain open as normal.”
