A tranquil moment for our Star photographer

Dappled skies at sunset provided the perfect backdrop for this study of Shropshire’s beautiful Iron Bridge by Star photographer Jamie Ricketts.

The Iron Bridge

Jamie set himself the task of capturing the splendour of the bridge in its new red livery after months of extensive renovation work.

He said: “Tonight I set out to capture one last photo to finish of 2018...I thought why not end it with our famous Iron Bridge as its been through quite the change this year!..I made my self a set of rules for the image:..- Include the Bridge (Obviously!).- To be taken just before sunset.- Be mindful of the ongoing work in the image.- Try capture the Bridge from a slightly different perspective.....I walked around for ages, my brain was just in overdrive. I was starting to think this was never going happen!..I then decided to simplify my options, so where did I go and place myself, in one of the most common spots where people take photos of the bridge haha!..I had found my composition, it was a slightly different perspective than I had seen it before so I was happy there. I had the light, the sky was looking just right. I was also happy that I couldn’t see too much of the ongoing work in the image. However, it was still missing something ... that was until Rosemary came along. She is from Oxford and is currently on a walking trip in Shropshire and the Iron Bridge was on her list of places to visit.” She agreed to be in the picture.

Jamie added: “She quietly sat herself on the bench in front of me, asking me before hand if that was ok, and naturally I obliged. I then turned my focus back to my camera and when Rosemary looked up slightly, I instantly realised she was the missing piece to the puzzle. There, I got the shot I was looking for.” as it had all the ingredients!..I was super chuffed with the final results, so I introduced myself to Rosemary, as I really wanted her to have a copy of my Photo so that she could remember her time here in Shropshire!..© Jamie Ricketts..
