Continuing the Friends' tradition of inviting ex-members of staff of Ironbridge Gorge Museum to speak at the lunch, this year's speaker is Kate Clark, chief executive of Cadw, the Welsh heritage body.

Kate is a former head of archaeology at the Ironbridge museum, and wrote the definitive archaeological guide to the Gorge.

Geraldine King of the Friends said: "We are delighted to welcome Kate back to Ironbridge. She is an industrial archaeologist who actually began her career here at Ironbridge Gorge Museum before moving on to the council for British Archaeology, English Heritage, and a stint in her native Australia managing museums.

"Now chief executive of Cadw, Kate is interested in how people value the past, and says she owes everything to IGMT and the people she worked with nearly 30 years ago."
