Firefighters tackle gorse blaze in Dawley

Firefighters in Telford were scrambled to a fire in a Telford town when gorse and undergrowth caught fire on Tuesday.

Fire crews battled an open air fire in Dawley

Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze in Duce Drive, Dawley, covered around 100 square metres.

A spokesperson for SFRS said a crew from Telford Central was called to the fire at around 12.43pm.

The spokesperson added: "The fire involving gorse and undergrowth measured approximately 10 x 10 meters."

The fire service spent nearly two hours tackling the blaze, but it was finally extinguished with the use of an extended hose reel jet and beaters.
