A married couple will run the London Marathon for charity this year, and as if that wasn't enough they have two fundraising events planned in Telford ahead of time.

Vikki and Sarah Owen will take on the marathon in aid of Children with Cancer UK after close friend Steve Wood was diagnosed with terminal cancer.

In the meantime the two are planning a quiz night and a masquerade ball, at the Unicorn in Little Dawley and the Madeley Court Hotel in Madeley respectively.

The quiz will go ahead at 6.30pm on February 28, and Steve himself has volunteered to shave his head on the night to help the appeal hit its £3,000 target.

Entry will cost £3 per person.

Then the main event, the charity ball, will be held on April 13. Tickets are £25 and include a three course meal, a drink and access to an auction and a disco.

Vikki said: "Tickets have been sold at a higher price to raise money and on the night we will be organising an auction and raffle to further raise money.

"We will be producing booklets for each table (for the ball) thanking each company/individual that has kindly donated an item for our auction.

"We will also thank everyone who has helped with quizzes on the night to all attendees and on relevant Facebook pages."

Two weeks after the masked ball, Vikki and Sarah will take on the marathon to top off their fundraising efforts.
