A spokesperson for Western Power Distribution said the cause was likely to have been the stormy weather as a band of heavy rain moved across the region.

About 518 customers of WPD lost their electricity in total but the company's teams managed to get 150 of them back on within 20 minutes.

Another 346 customers were back on the grid by about 7.30am and the remaining handful had power restored by 9.30am.
