Severn Trent Water alerted customers in the TF6, SY4 area at 3.34pm that they may experience supply interruptions but its teams were on route to start the repair as soon as possible.
A spokesperson for the company said: "At the moment there's five customers off supply as they are located near where we're fixing the pipe.
"All other customers are back on, and we're aiming to have the pipe fixed before 9pm. We're really sorry for the disruption that's been caused."
