Mark Coleclough, 31, was pulled over by police in Telford on May 20 last year. Officers carried out a search and found drugs with a street value of around £100.

He was arrested, and later officers searched his home and found the scales and more cannabis.

Coleclough was arrested initially on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and drug driving, but those charges were dropped and he pleaded guilty at Telford Magistrates Court to a simple possession charge.

Speaking on his own behalf, Coleclough, of Buttery Grove, Church Parade, said: "It was in lockdown. I bought them for myself because I found it hard to sleep."

He added that he suffers from post traumatic stress disorder.

"I know it was wrong," he said, "but I didn't have any other way of dealing with it."

Magistrates fined him £200.
