Newport-based businesses Robert Nicholas Financial Advisers Ltd and Be Bold Media have both stepped forward to support 14-year-old Katie Tonkinson as she continues to pursue her sporting passion.

The youngster has been competing since she was nine-years-old and now represents Shropshire and the West Midlands at under 16 level.

She has already won more than 40 gold medals and has a display cabinet full of trophies and shields to recognise her sporting achievements to date.

But Katie, from Sheriffhales, is determined to get to the very top of her discipline and hopes one day to compete on the world stage representing Great Britain.

The latest sponsorship boost from Robert Nicholas and Be Bold will enable Katie to purchase new equipment, cover travel expenses to and from competitions and help with the cost of overnight stays.

She said: “I am incredibly grateful to both sponsors for their generous support and helping me to pursue my ambitions in the sport.

“My parents have been wonderful and very supportive but are struggling now to meet the cost so this really is a welcome boost.”

Steve Graves, director at Robert Nicholas, said: “It’s an absolute delight to be supporting Katie with her sporting ambitions.

"She has trained so hard to get to where she is and we wish her every success in the future.”

Mark Waugh, director at Be Bold Media, added: “Katie has achieved so much in her sport already due to her dedication and passion and we hope our support will enable her to take her achievements to the next level.”
