The glove will be auctioned on Wednesday by Telford boxer-turned-pundit Richie Woodhall in aid of the Jayne Sargent Foundation.

The charity, founded by Colin Sargent in memory of his late wife, organises regular meetings where people can get support and advice about their condition.

The foundation's Sara Bennett said: "The funds that are raised will help put on regular meet ups and events which our members ask for which help anyone dealing with cancer in the Telford area."

She added that former super-middleweight champion Richie, who was commentating on Fury's clash with American Deontay Wilder yesterday, was an active supporter of the charity.

"We are so grateful to Richie, a friend of Jayne Sargent Foundation for supporting our charity which helps people dealing with cancer in Telford.

"We enjoy Richie’s company when he comes to our charity meets and even makes us all coffee."

Richie got Fury to sign the glove during a sportsmen's dinner at Cannock in the summer, where he was interviewing him on stage. The lot also includes a programme from the event.

Over the past three years Richie has raised thousands of pounds for Shropshire cancer charities through regular auctions he holds in memory of his father Len.

Len died after a long battle with prostate cancer in 2015.

He said Fury was only too happy to help.

"I told him what I do, that it's because of my of my dad, and he said he was right behind it, he was only too keen to help," he said..

He said he had been particularly impressed by the work of the Jayne Sargent Foundation.

“They run a support group every month and organise information and therapy services. I know how important this can be," he said.

The auction starts at Halls auction house in Bowmen Way, Shrewsbury, at 10am on Wednesday, and the glove and programme are available for viewing tomorrow.
