Telford & Wrekin Council is poised to award a 10-year contract to West Midlands company idverde, and they say not only will services be enhanced, but that the new deal will mean significant savings.

The contract is currently in a ten-day standstill period following an extensive tendering process.

Idverde has been chosen from three tenders.

It is intended that the contract will run from April 2019 to March 2029.

Telford & Wrekin Council leader councillor Shaun Davies said: “This is very good news for the council which will deliver significant savings. We will have more detail shortly when the ten-day standstill period expires.”

Delighted

Saul Huxley, idverde’s Business Development Director, said: “We are absolutely delighted to learn of Telford & Wrekin Council’s intention to award us this prestigious contract.

“We are really excited at the prospect of working with the council and serving Telford’s vibrant and growing community and feel very privileged to be chosen as service provider for the borough’s grounds and cleansing contract.”

The delivery of the contract will mean cleaner high streets, districts and local centres and dedicated staff working in local areas.

There will be a return of road sweeping for all roads with a kerb edge across the borough and will include footpaths.

Weed spraying will also be a focus, says the council, in an effort to prevent regrowth.
