Inquest into death of man whose body was found near M54 opens today

The inquest into the death of a man whose body was found by the side of the M54 was beginning today.

Surjit Takhar was 37 when he was reported missing from his home by his family in October 2008.

Nearly seven years later maintenance workers found his remains at the bottom of a motorway embankment near Telford on August 20, 2015.

It led to a detailed forensic investigation next to the slip road of junction four of the M54 for Shifnal.

West Midlands Police launched a murder investigation into the death of Mr Takhar, from Oldbury, in the West Midlands.

They arrested three people in December last year, releasing them under investigation days later.

The inquest, being heard by Shropshire coroner John Ellery, was beginning at 2pm today at Telford & Wrekin Registrar office in Wellington.
