The cars collided on a single-track bridge on the B5063, blocking the road close to the Tayleur Arms pub at Longdon upon Tern, at about 8pm on Thursday.

Emergency services found two cars, one containing one man and the other with three people.

The occupants could not leave their vehicles because of the tight space on the bridge, and fire crews helped them out and gave them oxygen.

Fire crews, police and ambulance services all attended, and one teenage passenger was taken to Princess Royal Hospital with a leg injury.

A woman in her 40s was treated at the scene for a head injury.
