Severn Trent is holding a community drop in session in Muxton to discuss its plans to install a new sewer to help protect homes from flooding.

The village currently experiences flooding during heavy rainfall, so the company is investing in a new sewer pipe to help during sudden downpours.

Debbie Goodale, from Severn Trent, said: “The last thing anyone wants when they see it’s raining is to have the worry of flooding. This is a crucial project for Muxton, and we wanted to take the opportunity to meet with the people this scheme will benefit and to discuss our plans.”

The team will be at St Johns Church, Satwells Drive, Muxton on Tuesday, February 20, from 3.30-6.30pm.

Work is due to begin in March and is expected to take up to six months to complete. Severn Trent contract partners Amey will be carrying out the work.

Debbie added: “We’ve planned this work carefully so it causes as little disruption as possible.

“We want to try to minimise any inconvenience by installing the sewer using an underground drilling technique.

“There’ll be a temporary road closure to allow us to get the drilling machine in and out the ground, but this method means the majority of the work happens without anyone really knowing it’s there.”

Severn Trent will be installing the new sewer pipe on land between Wellington Road and School Road.
