Telford gets royal visit as Prince of Brunei drops in

You might expect to see royalty dressed to the nines at a palace in the capital.

But unusually, a prince was pictured at the side of a Telford road – kitted out in army gear.

His Royal Highness Prince Abdul Mateen of Brunei in Asia, who also plays for the national polo team, uploaded the photograph to his Instagram account.

However, the exact location of the picture and reason behind the visit in unknown.

The picture was liked by more than 144,000 people around the world, with almost 2,000 users commenting on it.

The prince uploaded the photograph alongside the caption "Straight out of Telford" – it is understood to have been taken last month.

Prince Mateen is the 10th child of Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Prime Minister of Brunei.

The 26-year-old is also said to be active in charitable works and played for the national football team.

Mateen completed a master's degree in International Diplomacy at SOAS, University of London last year.

Brunei is a sovereign state just on the north coast of the island of Borneo in Southeast Asia.
