Organisers say the Telfood Feastival, which was held at the Southwater QUEII Arena, will not take place in 2018.

This is despite more than 6,500 foodies flocking to the two-day event in September.

Beth Heath, who runs Shropshire Festivals, said: "We are not planning on doing it again next year. It is simply down to the fact we've lost money on the last couple of years.

"We've given it too years and lost money on it."

The event attracted more than 100 stallholders.

There was a children’s circus and children’s cookery bus, pottery painting, a climbing wall, bubble football, a go-kart party, football skills, a tennis factory, and piglets and alpacas.

Food exhibitors from all over Shropshire had stalls at the event.

Despite the news, a new festival will be introduced in Newport in 2018 – thanks to a partnership between Shropshire Festivals and Harper Adams University.

The Field to Fork Festival will be open to everyone, free of charge, at the University’s campus in Edgmond on April 28, 2018.

Shropshire Festivals delivers Shrewsbury Winter Festival, Shropshire Oktober Fest and Shrewsbury Food Festival, jumped at the chance to organise the new event at her former university.

Organiser Beth Heath added: "Field to Fork Festival will be everything that makes an amazing event, more than 100 of the best food, drink and craft exhibitors, alongside tasty street food, loads for kids to enjoy and get involved with, from sports to inflatables to zorbing and robotics. A truly fun and educational day for the entire family."
