The countdown is finally over.

Telford's European Christmas market opened today (Thur 23) featuring wooden chalets decked with garlands and lights, as well as festive gifts from around Europe.

It is the second year the town is hosting a European Christmas market, which is expected to attract thousands of visitors.

Stalls have set up in Southwater and the market will run until December 23.

As well as festive gifts, there will also be a funfair and live music, including performances from local choirs and acoustic bands.

There is a bar and visitors will be able to enjoy a sip of gluhwein.

Telford & Wrekin Council leader, Councillor Shaun Davies said the market will not only be showcasing food, drink and products from authentic European stallholders, but will also give a number of local businesses the opportunity to have a stall of their own at the event.

Telford & Wrekin Council has worked with Retail Alternatives to bring the market to the borough.

The event is also being supported by Telford Shopping Centre.

This year’s Christmas market will be open from 10am until 9pm on Thursdays to Saturdays and 10am to 7pm on Sundays to Wednesdays.
